Instructional Design for Beginners

1.7 Summary

In this module we sought to understand that the combination of synchronous and asynchronous types of communication supports several ways for learners and teachers to interact, exchange information, and collaborate with each other. But it should be noted that many learners enroll online because of its asynchronous nature, this may cause some issues when students enroll online only to discover they have to meet online once a week. So careful use of synchronous and asynchronous technologies can lead to better engagement in an online environment.

We also critically examined the online interactions and use of various web 2.0 technologies in different learning contexts. The next chapter will deal more closely with Instructional strategies and media.
